Search engine optimization simply referred to as SEO is a strategic process deployed to generate more visibility and top ranking for a website or web page based on following rules (white hat practices) that align with SEO-related algorithms and best practices. It is the system by which website visibility is increased to the top of search engines result pages when it is performed properly and strategically. One element of SEO is keyword research which involves many metrics, a few being, determining which keywords have the highest amount of searches in a certain timeframe as well as the most reasonable dollar value needed to invest to achieve the desired results. Keywords are what the consumers or searchers on search engines will input into the search engine browser as a result related websites or web pages are then displayed. You can also say, SEO is a way in which a webmaster informs search engines what their website is about to drive more organic (non-paid) but targeted traffic to their websites.

A FEW ELEMENTS OF SEO

Search engine optimization has several major components, and it has evolved over time. Some of the components include but are not limited to Keyword research, On-page Optimization, and Off-Page Optimization.

Since the objective of performing search engine optimization is to achieve top ranking on search engine result pages in relation to a particular keyword or keyword phrase, keyword research is, therefore, a vital component of search engine optimization. Performing keyword research as part of the website SEO strategy will expose the keywords or keyword phrases which the consumers or users are searching for when they are looking for content or product related to the website topic.

Similarly, on-page optimization is a process that enables a webpage to be fully optimized for search engines. This ensures that web crawlers used by search engines are made aware of such activities on the webpage. These rules involve the treatment of elements on the page such as title tag, meta description, site navigation, internal linking, relevant and unique content, the URL, site speed and performance and site security.

Off-page search engine optimization is needed to make your website or webpage trustworthy in the eye of search engines, this involves link building, link building simply means building a presence and relationship on external sites. The more external links on your website or web page the better your site or your website will be able to do towards gaining added authority in the eye of search engines, and also make your website or web page rank higher in search engines result pages.
